Manchester United have announced the squad numbers which their new summer signings will wear for the 2020/21 season.

Edinson Cavani was revealed as the new No.7 on Tuesday night, with fellow deadline day arrival Alex Telles taking the No.27 shirt and Facundo Pellistri the new No.28.

Cavani, Telles and Pellistri all joined United late on transfer deadline day while the club also announced they had reached an agreement to sign Atalanta winger Amad Diallo at a later date.

Brazilian left-back Telles becomes the first player to wear the No.27 shirt at Old Trafford since Marouane Fellaini left the club last year. The shirt is most synonymous with Mikael Silvestre although it was also worn by the likes of Terry Cooke, Gary Neville and Federico Macheda.

Uruguayan youngster Pellistri inherits the No.28 shirt from Angel Gomes following his release from the club earlier in the summer. The shirt number was also worn by Anderson, Alexander Buttner, Darron Gibson, Danny Higginbotham, Phil Neville and Gerard Pique. It was also the first number given to David Beckham following his promotion to the first-team.

Telles arrives at United on a four-year contract with the option to extend by a further year, while Pellistri joins United on a five-year contract with an option to extend for a further year, after the club accelerated plans to sign the South American winger late in the window.
