Greenwood previously wore No.26 but will be given the iconic Manchester United No.11 following his breakthrough season at Old Trafford. Anthony Martial was the last player to wear the number but vacated it when switching back to the No.9 jersey. United legends such as Ryan Giggs, George Best and Sir Bobby Charlton have all worn the iconic shirt in the past.
Williams previously wore No.58 but has been given the No.33 last worn by Paddy McNair who left for Sunderland in 2016.
United kick off their Premier League campaign against Crystal Palace on September 19 when the duo will wear their new squad numbers for the first time.
The Reds sealed their first summer signing earlier this week, sealing a deal for Donny van de Beek who will wear the No.34 shirt to pay tribute to his former Ajax teammate and close friend Abdelhak Nouri, who collapsed during a pre-season game against Werder Bremen in 2017 and suffered a cardiac arrhythmia attack.
He told United’s official website: “This is a special thing for me because my good friend Abdelhak Nouri… maybe you know the story.
“He had a heart attack and he’s a good friend of mine, and I’m really close with his family and his brother is one of my best friends, and I talk a lot with them. So I decided to take his old number on my shirt. I want to get good memories with this number.”
