Man United announce eight new players for their Academy squads

2 min read

Manchester United have confirmed eight players will join up with the Under-18 side for next season, including three new signings.

They will all link up with the youth team that reached the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup and were sixth in the Under-18 Premier League season when it was called off.

With some of the older members of the Under-18 side now linking up with Neil Ryan’s Under-23s, United will see eight players step up to play their part in the youth team next season.

They include Shola Shoretire and Omari Forson, who have both signed scholarship forms and have already played for United’s Under-18s, including in the Youth Cup, with 16-year-old Shoretire scoring the winner at Old Trafford in the quarter-final against Wigan.

Local-born defender Rhys Bennett, 16, has been with the club his Under-9s, while Stockport-born Oliver Kilner is also stepping up to the Under-18s.

England Under-16 international defender Logan Pye and striker Joe Hugill both arrive from Sunderland, with Hugill have already represented the Black Cats at Under-23 level.

Two new goalkeepers have also joined the group. Czech Republic youngster Radek Vitek joins from Sigma Olomouc and Pole Daniel Polakowski, who has been with United since he was nine.

United have confirmed a further announcement confirming new arrivals to the Academy squads is due to be published at a later date.
