Manchester United and Tottenham are considering a move for on-loan Fulham defender Joachim Andersen after Lyon set a £25million asking price for the centre-back.

The Dane joined the Cottagers on a season-long loan deal last summer and Scott Parker’s side did not win a game in the Premier League until he made his debut at the start of November.

The 24-year-old has been a regular ever since, helping the Londoners put themselves in with a fighting chance of surviving relegation with seven matches to go in the Premier League.

Both United and Spurs are desperate to sign a centre-back this season, with weaknesses at the back undermining the clubs’ title challenge and top four bid respectively.

Andersen’s loan deal did not include an option to buy and his value has increased in his year in west London.

But Lyon have made huge losses over the last 18 months and the Telegraph claim they will accept around £25m for the Dane, having already fielded a serious enquiry from an unnamed Premier League club.

Andersen has played the last 25 matches in a row since joining the club with an injury and he’s shown himself to be ready for the Premier League in that time.

Fulham would ideally love to sign the defender on a permanent basis but their interest is dependent upon the club staying up, while they would also struggle to compete financially with the likes of United and Spurs.

Phil Jones is expected to leave United this summer, while Eric Bailly will have a year remaining on his deal at the end of the season.

Solskjaer wants a faster centre-back partner for Harry Maguire and the club could compete for Liverpool target Ibrahima Konate.

Toby Alderweireled and Davinson Sanchez face uncertain futures at Spurs, with one of the defenders likely to be sold this summer.
