Jesse Lingard insists he would ‘love’ to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.

Ronaldo left Old Trafford in 2009 and quickly became a legend at Real Madrid, scoring a remarkable 450 goals in 438 games for the Spanish club.

During his nine-year spell at the Bernabeu, Ronaldo also won four Champions League and two La Liga titles, as well as bagging the Ballon d’Or on three occasions.

Manchester United were linked with a move for Ronaldo before he joined Juventus last summer and Lingard admits it would be ‘amazing’ to see the Portugal forward return.

‘I would love [Manchester United] to sign [Cristiano] Ronaldo. He has been one of the best players in the world over the last decade,’ Lingard told The Daily Mirror.

‘He has been here before so he would slot right back in.

‘Growing up he was just unbelievable to watch in a United shirt, so on a personal note it would be amazing to play with him.’

Lingard will hope to help Manchester United snatch fourth place from Chelsea and Arsenal with just two matches of the 2018-19 Premier League season remaining.

On the top-four race, England international Lingard added: ‘It’s a tough one, the four teams are so evenly matched as you can see, there’s only three points in it.

‘It’ll probably go right down to the final day. I wouldn’t want to say who will miss out, but it’ll be close I’ll give you that.’

Manchester United travel to Huddersfield Town on Sunday before facing Cardiff City on the final day of the season.
