Manchester United are back in Champions League action as they travel to face Paris Saint-Germain in their opening Group H fixture on Tuesday night.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be keen to build on the weekend win over Newcastle United as he looks to restore confidence following a mixed start to the new campaign.
United’s previous trip to Paris last year will give the players confidence but they know they face an incredibly difficult task against last season’s runners-up in the competition.
In terms of early team news Edinson Cavani and Harry Maguire have not travelled for the match but deadline day signing Facundo Pellistri has.
Here, our United writers pick their teams to face PSG:
The biggest game for United this week will be at the weekend so Solskjaer effectively has a free hit when deciding on his side to face Paris Saint-Germain.
A injury dilemma in defence could give Shaw a chance to play in an unfamiliar position with Telles allowed to have his debut in the left-back role.
Van de Beek has been the best midfielder this season so deserves a start with Fernandes a wise inclusion in a deeper role alongside the sturdy Matic.
Martial is a simple selection through the middle and Mata was excellent at the weekend. It probably isn’t the best game for him to play, but there is little other option unless they switch to a diamond in midfield.
Use the selector below to pick your United side:
The win against Newcastle was the perfect response to the Tottenham humiliation. Maguire’s goal will be a massive and much needed confidence boost ahead of United’s toughest game of the season so far.
Telles should be forced to wait for his debut given the threat PSG’s attack poses. McTominay’s energy was vital against the Magpies and the Scot may have done enough to warrant another start. He should partner Matic in the centre of the park as Pogba may lack the defensive discipline against tough opposition.
Up top, Martial will be eager to prove his critics wrong against one of the best teams in Europe while James was revitalised at the weekend and would bring much required pace against a mobile defence.
Given the apparent absences of Maguire and Bailly, a back three is advisable, with Shaw coming back inside to supplement Lindelof and Tuanzebe. Telles is an experienced full-back capable of handling an occasion like tonight’s, especially in a sparse stadium.
Van de Beek cherishes the ball and would be the ideal conduit between the defence and the attack, while McTominay has played against PSG before and is a more aggressive defensive midfielder than Nemanja Matic. The front three is a little unconventional but banking on Mata, Fernandes and Rashford interchanging as effectively as they did at Newcastle.
