Owen Hargreaves has encouraged Manchester United to complete a move for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho – and also make a surprise swoop for Mario Mandzukic.
Twenty-year-old England international Sancho is firmly established as the prime target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side ahead of the 2020-21 season, although negotiations with the Bundesliga side are proving to be difficult.
While United have threatened to walk away due to Dortmund’s demands, Hargreaves believes a deal must be tied up for a player he believes is ‘unplayable’.
However, he clearly doesn’t feel that Sancho can solve all the options on his own and suggested a ‘different type’ of forward to come in alongside him.
“17 goals, 16 assists, those numbers are outrageous at this level for a player of his young age. He can play off the right, he can play in the hole, he can play off the left,” he told BT Sport.
“He gives them goals, gives them assists and Jadon gives you something really special. He dribbles, plays off the cuff and he’s almost unplayable. I’m all for it. I think he’s just want they need.”
Hargreaves then threw another name into the mix, adding: “Maybe you then go and get Mario Mandzukic on a free, a different type of centre-forward.”
