Gary Neville makes predictions about three Man United transfers

2 min read

Gary Neville believes Manchester United must make three more signings this summer and believes the club will make the necessary additions.

Donny van de Beek is the only confirmed United summer transfer so far, amid interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and possible left-back and central defensive targets.

RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano was initially mentioned as a possible answer to the latter position, while MEN Sport understands Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon is currently under consideration.

And Neville believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to strengthen in both those positions, while getting the extra forward reinforcement that United require.

“I think the left-back area is important because Luke [Shaw] has had injury problems,” Neville told the Webby and O’Neill YouTube channel.

“I think centre-back is critical and I do think at least one forward is important. I still think we need three or four signings.

“I’ve got a feeling they [the United board] are on it and are just not getting them over the line quite as quickly as they’d want.

“But they’re not panicking and they’re still in control I think. They’re not reacting to the market like they were a few years ago, they’re in control.

“The signings are better, they’re a better age-profile and look like they will be at the club for a long time rather than a season or two. I’m positive generally about United, but getting those players over the line is critical.”

MEN Sport understands United are still on the hunt for three more additions this summer. Sancho has long been their priority target, but negotiations with Dortmund have proven difficult.

David Brooks and Vitaliy Mykolenko are among the back-up options on United’s transfer shortlist, with the window open until October 6th.
