The former Man City striker will return to Manchester as his current side face United over two legs in the last four of the competition.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side booked their place in the semi finals after a convincing 4-0 aggregate win over Granada at the quarter final stage, while Roma came from behind in both legs to defeat Ajax 3-2 on aggregate.
United remain the bookmakers’ favourites to lift the Europa League this season, with fellow Premier League side Arsenal taking on Villarreal in the other semi final.
Bosnian forward Dzeko admits it will be a tough test to beat United over two legs but insists Roma must feel confident given their pathway to the last four stage.
“If we have reached the semi finals, I say yes [we can compete],” he told tuttomercatoweb. “We didn’t have an easy path between Braga, Shakhtar Donetsk and Ajax, now another strong team awaits us.
“We are Roma, since we have arrived here we have to give everything to get to the final.”
Dzeko’s belief is shared by that of club captain Lorenzo Pellegrini who acknowledges what a difficult task lies ahead for his side. “All the games we have faced have not been easy,” he said.
“Now it will be Manchester’s turn, our goal is to win to get to the final. It will be on the pitch that it will tell.”
