FIFA 21’s new kit designed by a Trafford pupil

3 min read

Playing a match on FIFA 21 with friends online has been a saving grace for so many people throughout the pandemic.

But one lucky pupil and Manchester United fan from Trafford has taken his gaming skills to the next level by designing his very own kit that his favourite football players can now wear in-game.

Lucas Miley, a pupil at Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College in Altrincham, was recently unveiled as the winner of PlayStation F.C. Schools’ Cup Kit Design Competition where pupils across the country were encouraged to create their own kits.

The competition, which launched in November, aimed to inspire young players to get creative with their love of design and football by submitting their own kit design either digitally or with pen and paper.

Beating out over 800 other entries, Lucas’ design was voted the most popular by fans of the popular video game and is now available for PlayStation gamers of FIFA 21 to unlock by completing the ‘PS Schools’ Cup’ Squad Building Challenge (SBC).

Lucas’ winning kit features a sleek purple and red design with arrows running across the chest.

“Lucas was so excited to win the kit design competition as he is a huge FIFA and PlayStation fan,” Angelina Miley, Lucas’ mother, said.

“Being able to see his kit in the game is a dream come true for him.

“The competition also gave Lucas something to focus on and he really enjoyed coming up with the pattern and colour combinations for the design.

“We are all very proud of Lucas and can’t wait to see him play with his kit in FIFA 21!”

Announcing his win, Lucas was surprised with a video message from Chelsea F.C. player and PlayStation F.C. Schools’ Cup ambassador Tammy Abraham, who said he was impressed with Lucas’ ‘next level of talent’.

“The Kit Design Competition is an unbelievable opportunity to gain exposure to FIFA players,” Tammy added.

Lucas said he ‘couldn’t wait’ to tell his best friend about his video message from Chelsea F.C. star Tammy Abraham.

“I was honoured to be able to show Lucas what the kit looked like in game for the first time.

“It looks amazing, he is a very deserving winner! FIFA 21 players should definitely check out Lucas’s cool new kit in game.”

The competition is part of the wider PlayStation F.C. Schools’ Cup initiative, which is a grassroots football partnership now in its eighth year between PlayStation UK and the English Schools’ Football Association (ESFA).

Andrea Chilton, CEO for ESFA, added: “Lucas’ winning design was exceptional and beat off tough competition from the other 800+ entries received.

“The ESFA is delighted that the PlayStation F.C. Schools’ Cup inspired so many children to express their talents in this competition and look forward to future campaigns championing the same.

“To have a kit that a school pupil has designed recreated to be in FIFA 21 is such a wonderful opportunity and we hope that Lucas and his school and his classmates are as impressed as we are.

“It is very refreshing to see such fantastic results from a campaign that really focuses on so many important elements of school-life, brought together by football.”

PlayStation players of FIFA 21 can unlock Lucas’s winning kit design in FIFA 21 by completing the ‘PS Schools’ Cup’ Squad Building Challenge (SBC).

The challenge runs in-game until April 27th 5:59pm BST.
