FA Cup third round draw numbers and TV info as Man Utd and Man City learn fates

3 min read

Premier League and Championship teams will this evening find out who they will face in the FA Cup third round.

The competition’s second round was held over the weekend, with some shock results that saw Stevenage knock out 2014 finalists Hull City on penalties and non-league Chorley overcome League One Peterborough United.

Marine are the lowest-ranked team left in the competition, with the eighth-tier Merseyside club scoring a last-minute winner to shock Havant & Waterlooville.

The Northern Premier League Division One North West side’s league campaign is currently on hold due to the national lockdown but that has not stopped them advancing to the third round of the competition for just the second time in their history – and fellow eighth-tier side Canvey Island have the chance to join them when they face Boreham Wood on Monday evening.

Prior to that sees the draw for the third round – here is everything you need to know about it as Manchester United and Man City enter the competition.

When does the draw take place?

The draw takes place on Monday evening at 7.10pm ahead of Canvey Island’s second-round tie with Boreham Wood.

It will be held at Marine’s Rossett Park ground.

How can I watch?

The draw will be shown live on BBC One from 7pm, hosted by Mark Chapman.

It will also form part of BT Sport’s pre-match build-up before they show Canvey Island against Boreham Wood.

The draw will also be shown live on the FA Cup’s social channels, including YouTube.

When will the third round take place?

The third round takes place on the weekend of January 9 and 10.

Due to the compressed season, there will be no replays, with matches instead going straight to extra-time and penalties.

Thirty-two teams will advance from this stage and collect £82,000 in prize money.
