Angel Di Maria says there is a chance Lionel Messi could sign for PSG next season.
Argentine superstar Messi’s future is still up in the air, with the ongoing presidential elections at Barcelona meaning he is yet to sign a new contract.
With Messi’s contract up in the summer, he is eligible to speak to overseas clubs and would be available on a free transfer if he does not agree a new deal.
After the forward handed in a transfer request at the Nou Camp last summer, there was plenty of speculation over where the 33-year-old could end up.
City’s biggest rivals for Messi, should he leave Barca, are arguably PSG, with star forward Neymar also having a close friendship with the player from their time at the Nou Camp together.
Neymar has recently spoken of his desire to play with Messi again, whilst also indicating that his own preference would be to sign a new contract in France – suggesting he is confident Messi may well join him at PSG.
Speaking to TyC Sports, Di Maria said he would love to play with his compatriot at a club level.
He said: “I had the opportunity at one moment in my career to go to Barcelona but it was not done.
