Premier League statement on fans’ return
The Premier League has confirmed that only home fans will be able to attend the final two rounds of fixtures this season.
Under the current government roadmap, limited numbers of fans are scheduled to be permitted to return to matches from May 17, subject to a review on the impact the most recent relaxation of restrictions has had on Covid-19 infection rates.
Initially, that meant fans would only be able to attend the final day of fixtures on May 23rd but, in order to preserve sporting integrity and not give some clubs the unfair advantage of playing in front of supporters whilst others are unable to, the Premier League moved a round of matches to May 18 or 19.
That means, subject to government approval, fans will be able to attend Manchester United’s penultimate game of the season, against Fulham at Old Trafford.
