Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has put a dent in Manchester United and Manchester City’s hopes of signing Erling Haaland by claiming the striker will not be sold this summer.

The Norwegian has averaged a goal a game since joining Dortmund in a £20m deal from RB Salzburg 18 months ago.

Haaland rejected Manchester United at the time but the Red Devils are determined to make up for their error by landing the 20-year-old this summer.

Haaland is valued at £150m by Dortmund and it was believed that the Germans would cash in on him at the end of the season, as a release clause in his contract means he’s available for just £62m in 2022.

However, in a hit to the chances of United and City landing the Norwegian sensation, Wartzke claims Haaland will spend at least one more season in the Bundesliga.

Speaking about recent comments from Raiola that Haaland is a wanted man, Watzke said: ‘I’ve known Raiola for a long time and get along well with him. It’s no problem for us.

‘Erling Haaland will remain a Borussia Dortmund player next year.’

Both United and City have tracked Haaland over the last two years but the Manchester rivals are both interested in England skipper Harry Kane, too.

The Spurs forward is also valued at around £150m and is believed to be keen on leaving the club.

However, Kane is seven years older than Haaland and would command little sell-on value, making the Norwegian the more promising acquisition for the Premier League giants.
