United have been linked with a move for Rice since his breakthrough but Chelsea are the favourites to tempt him away from the Hammers, with midfielder having been released by the Blues at the age of 14.
According to The Mirror, the England international has told friends he would prefer a transfer back to Stamford Bridge rather than joining Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

A source close to the player said: ‘Dec has been flattered by interest in him but he doesn’t see himself moving to Manchester. It’s obvious where he’d like his next move to be.’
The midfielder, who turns 22 next week, is best friends with Chelsea’s Mason Mount with the pair having grown up together and they would no doubt love to be reunited at club level.
Rice has earned a reputation for being a versatile player who can operate in the centre of midfield as well as defence.

He is under contract at West Ham until 2024 and the club value him at a huge £80million.
Hammers’ captain Mark Noble recently shared his desire for Rice to commit his future to the East London club but admitted ‘you never know’ what will happen during a transfer window.
‘He’s still learning his trade, he’ll get much better with experience. I’m hoping it’s here [at West Ham] but in this game you never know,’ Noble told talkSPORT.
‘I’m sure he’ll be a top, top player and an even better player in years to come.’
The midfielder has also established himself in Gareth Southgate’s England squad and scored his first international goal against Iceland in November.
