Dani Olmo’s agent has given Manchester United hope of signing the Dinamo Zagreb midfielder.

United were alerted to Olmo’s potential after the 21-year-old midfielder helped Spain with the European Under-21 Championship this summer with a string of impressive performances in Italy.

Olmo scored three goals across Spain’s triumphant campaign and was named man of the match after an outstanding display in the final against Germany.

Reports claim that United have bid around €40million (£35m) for Olmo, with Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund also keen on the youngster.

Amid the growing interest in Olmo, his agent refused to rule out a move to Old Trafford.

Asked about the rumours linking Olmo with United, Andyja Baru told Sportske Novosti: ‘At this point I can’t comment on it!’

‘Serious talks start from today, ultimately decided by Dinamo and Olmo, of course.

‘I send all interested clubs to Dinamo and when the clubs agree a fee, I will come to agree on the conditions for Dani.

‘Dani can play for any club as he has already showed this at the Euro U21s.

‘When we are talking about Manchester United, they have no such player as Olmo.’

The Red Devils are on the lookout for reinforcements in midfield following Ander Herrera’s move to Paris Saint-Germain.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stressed that he’s only interested in signing players with the right ‘work ethic’ for the club.

‘We’ve tried to educate our players and our kids to be proper people. In my view, the best players have always been the best people,’ the Norwegian said.

‘You have to have that value system and a certain kind of attitude about you to make a Man United player.

‘You have got to have the qualities and our fans want to see exciting players. Of course we want to get up from our seats.

‘We want to see defenders who defend like they’re doing it for their lives – that’s the most important thing.

‘When we start games [against big clubs], our fans clap a striker making a tackle. It’s always been in our culture.

‘You have to have that work ethic and we’re scouting the market, trying to find the right ones.’
