Chelsea fans believe Declan Rice has made it clear he would rather move to Stamford Bridge this summer than Manchester United.
The transfer window is now officially open and it’s set to be a busy one for United as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to make improvements to his squad in order to launch a sustained Premier League title challenge.
As well as a new centre-back, right-back and right-winger, a defensive-midfielder to add some much-needed solidity to the side is on the shopping list, with West Ham United star Rice the ideal target.
The 22-year-old was a near ever-present for the Hammers last season and was a big factor in their unlikely run to Europa League qualification.
Unsurprisingly, Rice is attracting interest from a number of clubs with United and Chelsea seemingly the keenest parties.
It’s understood that United have been tracking the England international for more than two years and the Manchester Evening News reported in April that he is open to moving to Old Trafford.
During the international break in March, it’s understood that Rice asked his Three Lions teammates Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw about aspects of the club.
Rice is once again on international duty ahead of this summer’s European Championship and during the official UEFA Euro 2020 media access day, he was asked to do some goal celebrations as he posed for photographs.
Chelsea supporters noticed how two celebrations Rice picked were ones made iconic by former Blues strikers Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka, and as a result believe he wants to join their club this summer.
Rice spent eight years in the Chelsea academy as a youngster before joining West Ham upon his release and is best friends with Mason Mount.
He is under contract at the London Stadium until 2024 but speaking about his career ambitions last year he made it clear he wants to lift silverware.

“As a footballer you only get one career and it goes by very quick,” Rice told Sky Sports. “You want to be successful for club and country. I think it’s an important thing to win trophies. There’s talk of Harry Kane at Spurs and what he should be doing, obviously he can do whatever he wants.
“He’s going to win trophies we all know that. I think that’s something I want to aim for as well. I’m only 21 but to get those highs of your career you need to win stuff and that’s what I want to do.”
