Cavani and McTominay to start – Man United predicted line-up vs West Brom

3 min read

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a near full squad to choose from as he prepares his side to face West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Sunday.

Paul Pogba is the only confirmed absentee from the United squad, with the French midfielder sidelined after picking up a thigh injury in the 3-3 draw with Everton last weekend.

Solskjaer confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Friday that Eric Bailly is back in training after missing the last few games with a knock.

Bailly’s return to fitness provides a boost to Solskjaer’s options in central defence, but he is unlikely to break up the partnership between Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

Dean Henderson kept a clean sheet in the 1-0 extra-time win over West Ham in the FA Cup on Tuesday, but will probably still make way for David de Gea on Sunday.

Luke Shaw got a rest for the West Ham game, with Alex Telles starting in his place, and although he came off the bench to help United get over the line, he should be fresh at the Hawthorns.

Pogba’s injury and his seventh goal of the season will see Scott McTominay start alongside Fred, who will play his 100th match for the club in holding midfield.

Donny van de Beek failed to take his chance in the No 10 role against the Hammers and can expect to return to the substitutes’ bench tomorrow, with Bruno Fernandes back in the starting XI.

Edinson Cavani will come back in for Anthony Martial up front after the Frenchman played 120 minutes on Tuesday and Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood should continue in the wide positions of a 4-2-3-1 formation.

United have won just one of their last four Premier League matches and have to beat 19th-placed West Brom to keep in touch with leaders Manchester City at the top of the table.

Here is the line-up we expect Solskjaer to pick for the 2pm kick off in the West Midlands.

Manchester United predicted XI to face West Brom: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; Fred, McTominay; Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Cavani.
