Borussia Dortmund reveal transfer stance on Erling Haaland

2 min read

Erling Haaland is currently one of the most sought-after talents in the world.

Both Manchester United and Manchester City are known admirers of the 20-year-old forward and they look set to potentially battle for his signature this summer, with both clubs in the market for a centre-forward.

It has been previously reported that Borussia Dortmund have valued Haaland Рwho has scored 34 goals in 33 games this season Рat £150m, sending a clear message to the teams queuing for his signature that the Norwegian will command a hefty fee.

However, Dortmund have now revealed their transfer stance on Haaland and it’s perhaps not good news for either Manchester club.

“I like to stick to what the contractual basis looks like and how the direct discussions were held last week. We have very clear plans to go into the new season with Erling,” Dortmund’s sports director Michael Zorc said recently.

While the German club have now made it clear they intend to keep Haaland beyond the summer, the infamous super-agent Mino Raiola was pictured last week holding talks across Europe regarding his client’s long-term future.

“Michael Zorc made it clear to us that BVB Erling does not want to sell this summer. I respect this opinion, but what does not automatically mean that I also agree,” Raiola told SPORT1, responding to Dortmund’s stance.

“BVB were very clear in their views. We are okay with that. There is no war between us and BVB – absolutely not,” he added.

While Dortmund’s stance may suggest it will be difficult to prize Haaland away from the Bundesliga in the summer window, it would be foolish to underestimate the power of Raiola, who has previously controversially negotiated some of football’s biggest deals.
