Manchester United’s U23s collected their first point of the Premier League 2 Division 1 season as they drew with Blackburn at Leyland on Friday afternoon.
Neil Wood’s side went into the game having conceded seven times in their opening two games back in the top flight, losing 2-0 to Leicester in their first game of the campaign on 14 September and 5-3 to Liverpool 11 days later.
United are back in the top tier of reserve-level football having gained promotion last term but are without a number of the players who spearheaded their promotion charge, with James Garner, Dylan Levitt, Aliou Traore, Tahith Chong and Matej Kovar all having left the club on loan.
There were U23 debuts for Harvey Neville and Isak Hansen-Aaroen against Rovers but it was another summer signing, Joe Hugill, who claimed the headlines as he scored both goals – one in each half – in the 2-2 draw.
