Amad has reacted to Shola Shoretire’s debut for Manchester United by congratulating the 17-year-old.
It’s been quite the week for debutants at United as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues to provide an encouraging glimpse towards the future at Old Trafford.
Shoretire became the latest in a long line of academy graduates to pull on the famous red shirt when he was introduced as a late substitute against Newcastle on Sunday.
Wearing the No.79 shirt, the 17-year-old even replaced one of the teammates he admits to idolising – Marcus Rashford.
It came after Rashford set United on their way to a 3-1 victory with a fine strike, with further goals coming from Daniel James and Bruno Fernandes in response to Allan Saint-Maximin’s equaliser.
Shoretire has received quite the response since following in the footsteps of January transfer window arrival Amad, who was handed his debut by Solskjaer in midweek.
Tthat came during the resounding Europa League last-32 first-leg victory against Real Sociedad in Turin.
Amad’s short congratulatory message, which read ‘congrats bro’ in the above post, followed high-profile reaction to Shoretire’s 89th minute introduction.
During his post-match press conference, Solskjaer said: “He’s going to play many games for us if he keeps doing what he’s doing, he’s training really, he’s a good boy with a good head on him and hopefully he’ll have a really good career for us.
“He is a boy we believe in. We wanted to give him a little taste of it. Of course, the game was not done, still another six or seven minutes, but he is a boy we believe in.”
Speaking after being replaced by 17-year-old Shoretire, opening goalscorer and fellow academy graduate Rashford said: “He’s even younger than I was!
“It’s a top moment, when a young player makes his debut they kick on from that and, hopefully, we see the same from him. He’s got a lot of quality, the more often he trains with us and plays with us he’s going to feel relaxed and can show his quality on the pitch.”
