Aliou Traore admits he could leave Manchester United amid reports linking him with a transfer in the summer window.
The 19-year-old midfielder has shone for United at youth level this season, three years after he joined the club from Paris Saint-Germain.
Traore netted four goals in 14 appearances for United U23s as they earned promotion from the Premier League 2 Division Two, and now he is fully focused on making the breakthrough to senior football.
Reports in France have linked Traore with a move to SM Caen and the youngster admits his main ambition is to be playing professional football on a regular basis.
“I would like to start as a pro,” he told RMC Sport.
“Like I said, I think I have the baggage to do it. I hope it will be in Manchester, otherwise why not go and find playing time elsewhere.
“I only have one year of contract left so yes, I’m not closing the door. But if I’m leaving, it’s for a professional group.
“I don’t want to leave Manchester to be in the same situation elsewhere. I need an evolution in my progression and that goes through a professional workforce.”
When asked if Traore had a preference in his possible next club he insisted he will make his decision based solely on the project which is on offer.
He added: “No, I will be listening to opportunities. Above all, I want to be part of a project that has meaning for me, a coherent project for the rest of my career.”
